District Governor Elect Frank Dean recently made a trip to India to view various Rotary projects.
Frank noted a couple of things about the Indian people:
1. He loves them – he found them to be sincere, friendly people.
2. There are a lot of them – in fact, there are more Indians under the age of 15 than the entire US population. There are more honor students in India than all the students in America.
Frank visited various schools that were started by Rotarians including a school for the deaf, a school for the blind, and a school for MR children. Frank was impressed by children at the school for the blind that were actually playing cricket (a stick and ball sport somewhat similar to baseball). The children could obviously not see the ball so they had a special ball with rattles. In all cases, Frank said the kids were always smiling.
