Business is Booming!

Retail sales in McDowell County for the first five months of the 2013-14 Fiscal Year have increased by 6.8% over the same time period in 2012-13.  During this same time, retail sales across North Carolina grew by 3.5%.  McDowell County is on target to exceed the growth in retail sales for the State as a whole for the 6th time in the last 8 years.  Between 2005 and 2013, retail sales in McDowell County have grown by 25.3%, while increasing Statewide only by 3.8% during the same time.(Bob Boyette, City Manager)
